Dr. Belinda Cohen
Dr Belinda Cohen is an experienced General Practitioner with a broad interest in all aspects of family medicine. After completing a BSc at Stellenbosch University, she qualified in medicine at the University of Cape Town and later obtained a postgraduate qualification in palliative care. She has spent many years working in public-sector family medicine and has also dedicated more than 20 years to part-time work at St Luke’s Hospice, developing considerable expertise in oncology symptom management, end-of-life care and the emotional support required by patients and their loved ones. Her clinical interests include family dynamics, geriatrics, chronic conditions such as (but not limited to ) hypertension, diabetes and asthma, oncology and palliative care. Dr Cohen brings a compassionate, thoughtful approach to caring for individuals and families.

Her greatest professional passions are oncology and palliative care. She believes that excellent medical care involves not only treating illness, but also listening carefully, communicating honestly and protecting each patient’s dignity, comfort and quality of life.
She joined Hout Bay Family Medical Centre in 2022 and has become a valued member of its experienced, community-focused team. Warm, approachable and deeply committed to her patients, Dr Cohen strives to create a safe and supportive environment in which individuals and families feel heard, respected and well cared for. She is proud to serve the Hout Bay community and to provide practical, evidence-based healthcare through every stage of life with kindness, sensitivity, professional integrity and genuine understanding.
